Bags & backpacks

Embroidered bags and backpacks that carry your brand everywhere

A bag goes everywhere its owner goes, which makes it one of the hardest-working places for a logo. We embroider backpacks, laptop bags, conference bags, duffels, cooler bags and canvas totes, choosing a placement and stitch density that suits each bag's panel, padding and fabric.

  • Placement planned per bag
  • In-house digitising
  • Supplied or sourced bags
  • Names added per bag

Bags that suit embroidery, and what people use them for

Embroidered bags work hard for conference packs, staff welcome kits, school and sports teams, client gifts and travel groups. Stitching sits on the surface without cracking or peeling, so a logo still looks crisp after years of being thrown into car boots and onto airport carousels.

  • Backpacks and laptop bags for staff onboarding, sales teams and students
  • Duffel and sports bags for clubs, gyms and school teams, often with a player name added
  • Cooler bags for events, promotions and corporate year-end gifts
  • Canvas and cotton totes for retail, markets and conference giveaways
  • Drawstring bags and toiletry pouches for hospitality and team kits

For large batches of lightweight promotional bags, a print may be the better value; see our promotional products options and we will tell you honestly which route fits.

Placement depends on how the bag is built

The embroidery machine has to reach the panel you want stitched, so construction matters more on bags than on garments. A flat front pocket or an unlined outer panel is ideal. Heavily padded laptop compartments, rigid moulded shells and pockets with zips running across them limit where the hoop can go and how large the logo can be.

Common positions we plan around:

  • Front pocket, centred, usually the most visible spot
  • Upper front panel above a pocket on backpacks
  • End panel on duffels and cooler bags
  • Shoulder strap or flap for a small name or icon

If you are sourcing bags yourself, send us the product link or drop one off before ordering a batch. Our placement and size guide explains realistic logo sizes.

Fabrics, backing and thread choices

Most bags are made from polyester, ripstop nylon, canvas or PVC-backed fabrics. Each behaves differently under the needle. Thin nylon needs a lighter, carefully digitised design so it does not pucker; heavy canvas takes dense fill stitching beautifully; coated fabrics are pierced permanently, so placement must be right first time.

We digitise every logo for the actual bag fabric, choose a suitable backing so the design stays flat, and match thread colours to your brand guide as closely as standard embroidery threads allow. Very fine lettering below a few millimetres high does not stitch cleanly on textured bag fabrics, so we may suggest simplifying a tagline or dropping it in favour of the main mark.

Artwork, logos and individual names

Send your logo as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) if you have one; a clean, high-resolution PNG or JPG also works. Our team converts it into a stitch file through in-house digitising, and you approve a digital proof showing size, position and thread colours before anything is stitched.

Adding individual names or initials to each bag is popular for teams and staff gifts. Send names in a simple spreadsheet with the spelling exactly as it should appear, and tell us which bag gets which name if the bags differ in colour or size.

Turnaround, collection and delivery

Bag orders move fastest when the bags are in hand, the logo has been digitised before and the proof is approved early. Same-day or next-day work is possible on qualifying orders, always subject to stock, quantity, artwork approval, payment and production capacity, and we confirm the timeline on your written quote.

Finished bags are checked for stitch quality and loose threads, then packed for collection from our Rivonia shop. Delivery can be arranged on request and is quoted per job. Call or WhatsApp to confirm your order is ready before visiting.

Frequently asked questions

Can you embroider a bag I already own?

Usually, yes. We need to see the bag first, because zips, padding and linings decide whether the machine can reach the panel. Bring it to the Rivonia shop or send clear photos of the front and inside so we can confirm placement before quoting.

Can every bag have a different name?

Yes. Send a list of names with the exact spelling and capitalisation you want, and we add them in a consistent font and position. Names are often stitched alongside a team or company logo for sports and staff kits.

Will embroidery damage a waterproof bag?

Embroidery pierces the fabric, so on coated or waterproof bags the needle holes are permanent. On most bags this is not a practical problem, but for fully waterproof dry bags we may suggest a patch or a print instead.

What is the largest logo you can stitch on a backpack?

It depends on the flat area available on the panel you choose. A front pocket typically suits a modest chest-sized logo, while a large unlined panel can take more. We confirm the maximum size once we have seen the bag.

Can you supply the bags as well?

We can quote on sourcing bags for you, depending on the style, colour and quantity you need. Tell us the type of bag and how it will be used, and we will suggest suitable options on your quote.
