Outerwear branding
Jacket and softshell embroidery built for outerwear
Jackets are the most expensive item in most uniform ranges, so the embroidery has to be right first time. We stitch chest logos, sleeve marks and large back designs on softshells, fleeces, bombers, padded and rain jackets, choosing placements that avoid zips, seams and waterproof layers.
- Softshell, fleece and padded
- Large back designs possible
- Placed clear of zips and seams
- Proof before stitching

Branded outerwear for teams and winter uniforms
An embroidered jacket is often the piece staff wear the most from May to August, and it is what customers see first on cold mornings. Softshells suit corporate and sales teams, fleeces and padded jackets suit field, security and site staff, bombers and varsity-style jackets suit clubs and schools, and rain jackets suit outdoor and events crews.
Jackets are usually part of a wider range, so we digitise your logo once and use it across golf shirts, caps and outerwear for a consistent look.
Jacket types and how each is stitched
- Softshell – bonded fabric with a fleece back. Embroiders cleanly; we avoid over-dense designs that could perforate the membrane too much.
- Fleece – soft pile; we use a topping layer so stitches sit on top of the pile instead of sinking in.
- Padded and puffer jackets – stitching through the padding compresses it, so logos go on flat panels or between quilting lines.
- Rain and windbreaker jackets – needle holes can affect water resistance; we keep chest logos compact and can suggest placements on the outer shell only.
- Bomber, varsity and canvas jackets – sturdy fabrics that suit large back designs.
Chest, sleeve and back placements
The left chest is standard, sized to clear the zip and any chest pocket. Sleeves suit a flag, icon or website, and the upper back between the shoulders or a full back design is popular for clubs, events and crews. A large back design has many more stitches, so it adds production time; it also needs a jacket with a back panel free of seams. Some jackets can be opened at the lining to stitch only the outer shell, which keeps the inside neat. We will tell you on the quote if that applies.
Artwork, timing and collection
Send a vector file or a sharp PNG or JPG. Large back designs need more detail work in digitising, and very detailed artwork may be better as an embroidered or printed patch. Our artwork guidelines cover file preparation.
Fast or same-day jacket orders are possible on qualifying jobs, always subject to capacity, job size, approved artwork, payment and a confirmed deadline. Jacket stock in specific colours and sizes can take longer to confirm, so share your size run early. Collect from our Rivonia shop once we confirm the order is ready, or arrange delivery, quoted per job.

Frequently asked questions
Will embroidery make my rain jacket leak?
Needle holes can let some water through on fully waterproof jackets. We keep logos compact, and where the jacket allows, stitch only the outer shell. For full waterproofing, a heat-applied patch may be a better option.
Can you embroider a large logo across the back?
Yes, on jackets with a seam-free back panel. Large designs take longer to stitch, so allow extra time and confirm the deadline on your quote.
How do you embroider padded jackets?
Stitching through padding compresses it, so we place logos on flat panels or between quilting lines and size them to suit.
Can you embroider my staff's existing jackets?
Yes, we embroider customer-supplied jackets. Bring them clean and let us know the fabric type so we can check the best method.
